Letter to the Editor
Let there be peace on Earth
Monday, November 9, 2020
If we can go by some of the downtown store fronts, Christmas can't be far away. Though the election hoopla may not be over, we still have the opportunity to begin the healing process we so desperately need. The lyrics of the 1955 song, "Let There Be Peace On Earth," give us some guidance.
The song goes like this: Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God as our Father, brothers all are we. Let us walk with our brother/sister, in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow: to take each moment, and live each moment, in peace eternally, let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
It won't be easy, but neither is it impossible. Will we give it the time, and take the invitation to heart? I sincerely hope so.
