SPENCER — John Hansel, a Spencer Community School District fifth-grade teacher and high school girls soccer coach, is the 2023 recipient of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Soccer Golden Plaque of Distinction Award.

The accolade will be presented to Hansel prior to the class 2A state championship match scheduled for Saturday, June 3, at Field 6.
