Betty Lou (Meyer) Hansen, 86, of Sheldon, and formerly of Spencer, passed from this life on Saturday morning, Jan. 13, 2024, from Sheldon Senior Care.

Betty was born on Jan. 2, 1938, in Marathon, to Leo and Verlette Meyer. Betty attended school in Marathon where she graduated high school in 1955. On Jan. 8, 1956, she was married to her lifelong partner, Cliff Hansen, at the Marathon Methodist Church by the Rev. Bob Smith.

Caroline Miller, 88, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at her home. A private graveside service and interment will be in Garfield Cemetery, Webb. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Anton C. “Tony” Nielsen, 70, of Linn Grove, passed away at home on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. Visitation with the family present will be held at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Willow Creek Cemetery in Royal.

Julie Ann Pike, beloved wife, mother and daughter passed away at the age 81, on Jan. 7, 2024.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, from 4-6 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Julie was a longtime member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. It is located at 1517 Northwestern Ave., in Ames.

George Wayne Alspach, 82, of Grundy Center, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at the Grundy Care Center. A celebration of life will be held at Abels Funeral & Cremation Service — Engelkes Chapel in Grundy Center on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, where friends and family may visit from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Elaine Ella Sorenson, 100, of Spencer, died on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2023.

She was born April 21, 1923, in Spencer the daughter of Henry and Louise (Zender) Milton. She grew up on a farm in Clay County. Elaine graduated from Lake Center School.

She enjoyed collecting antique glass and displaying them in several cupboards. Elaine also enjoyed road trips and watching sports on TV. Elaine cooked countless meals for many people.

Pearl Jolene Phelps, 72, of Sioux Rapids, died Jan. 7, 2024, at her home in Sioux Rapids. Graveside services will take place Saturday, Jan. 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation is Friday, Jan. 12, 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.

Memorial services for Nancy Nadine Geisinger, 73, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Interment will be at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn.

Mary Jo Ann Clark, 69, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.

A graveside service for Verne Stinehart, of Spencer, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Luverne Dale Stinehart was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in Milford to Roland and Gladys (Morgan) Stinehart. Verne passed away on Jan. 2, 2024, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer at 88 years of age.

Mary Jean Schmidt was born on March 9, 1925, in Dubuque, to parents Frank John Kuhn Jr. and Emelia Lena (Reuschel) Kuhn. She was the middle child with older brother Donald Kenneth and younger sister Frances Joyce. Mary Jean lived her early years in Dubuque, where many of her maternal relatives lived.

STORM LAKE ― Ann Michelle Krummen, 40, of Storm Lake, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, in West Bend.

Elli Marie Wiemers, daughter of Leland and Gail (Lakness) Roe, was born on Aug. 19, 1968, in Watertown, South Dakota. She grew up in the small farming community of Hazel, South Dakota, with her parents and siblings, Kent, Holly, Sonja and Paul. She graduated from Hamlin High School and went on to attend South Dakota State University.

Ann Michelle Krummen, 40, of Storm Lake, died Friday, Dec.15, 2023, in West Bend. Celebration of life services will take place Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Peterson. Burial will be at a later date in the Barnes Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, from 1-7 p.m., with family present 4-7 p.m., at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Perri Hughes, 69 of Langdon, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date. Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
