Funeral services for Ellen Sandvig, 85, of Spencer, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Spencer. Rev. Tim Hogan will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Monday morning before the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Spencer, after the services. After the graveside service, there will be a lunch served at the church. Sandvig passed away May 6, 2024, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer.

Funeral services for Joel Peterson, 67, of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Spencer, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at First Baptist Church, in Spencer. Pastors Rick Porter and Curt Batschelet. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Peterson passed away April 30, 2024, at his home. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Norman John Van Enter, son of Albert and Louise (Dykstra) Van Enter, was born on February 16, 1936 near Parker, South Dakota. 

He graduated from Spencer High School in 1953 and served two years in the army. He married DeAnne Rae Welle on December 8, 1956. They then moved to Paramount, California. In 1958, they welcomed their daughter, Tamara.

Lorraine Marie (Winkler) Lamport was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away in Spencer, Iowa on May 3, 2024, at the age of 95.

Patrick Douglas McFarlane, 64 of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Spencer, Iowa, passed away May 4, 2024 at the University Hospital of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. 

Sharon Ann “Sherry” Hansen, 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on May 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Marysville, Ohio.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1942, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of the late Francis and Alice (Flaherty) Hynes.

A memorial Mass for William “Bill” John Boese, 79, of Milford, will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.

Bill, the son of Burdette “Buzz” William and Helen Mary (Trainer) Boese, was born in El Paso, Texas, on Aug. 3, 1944, where his father was stationed with the Army.

Colleen Ann Gross Chambers was the fourth child of John and Catherine Berberich Gross. She was born at home on the Gross family farm east of Greenville on May 29, 1931.

Private family funeral services for Karen Nelson, 68, of Spencer, will be conducted following her wishes to be cremated. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Karen passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Kevin, 69, passed away at home on April 23, 2024. He was born on Nov. 18, 1954, in Maquoketa. Spending his early years in eastern Iowa, Kevin moved to Spencer in 1961, and grew up here with his siblings.

Funeral services for Brady John Tewes, 35, of Spencer, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer. Revs. Gary Nims and Eric Patten will officiate the service. Visitation will take place from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, May 5, with family present at the church. Interment at a later date.

James “Jim” L. Rowley, 85, of Syracuse, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on Feb. 5, 1939, in Farnam, Nebraska, to Warren and Doris (Gugelman) Rowley. He began his education at a one room country school in Orafino, Nebraska. The family moved to Curtis, Nebraska, where he attended another country school through the eighth grade.
