Kenneth G. Kahley, 87, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2024.
Born on Dec. 28, 1936, in Spencer. Ken was a lifelong resident of the community. He graduated from Spencer High School and Drake University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. After Drake, he went to Arizona where he worked on the Salt River Project and enlisted in the Arizona National Guard.
Upon returning to Spencer, Ken dedicated the next 53 years to working at Asher Motor Company, during which time he served on many auto dealer associations. He was an active member of the community, serving as president of the Jaycees of Spencer and the Spencer YMCA. He was also a board member of Northwest Federal and participated in Kiwanis.
Ken was a lifelong Masonic and Shriner member and he particularly enjoyed his stint as an Okoboji Yacht Club sailing judge.
Ken's passion in life was golf. He was a lifelong member of the Spencer Golf and Country Club and also enjoyed playing the local golf courses in the lakes area. He was a devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Thelma Kahley; his sister, Kay Fether; and his son, Mark Kahley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his sons: Brad (Sarah) and Stephen (Michael); his daughter-in-law, Heather; his grandchildren: Noah Dudley, Chloe, Saddie, Leah and Lauren Kahley; and many cherished friends and family.
Memorial services are Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with Pastor Renae Behrends officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer. Following the graveside services, there will be a reception at the Spencer Golf & Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Spencer YMCA.
