Funeral services for Ruth Thurston, 96, of Spencer, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Warner Chapel, in Spencer. Rev. Sharon “Shazzy” Britz will officiate the service. Visitation will be open after 2-7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemeter in Spencer. Thurston passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer. Thomas “Tom” Lorenz, 82, of Spencer, wished to be cremated and no services are planned at this time. He passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2023, at his residence.

Tom arrived at the Spencer Hospital on Jan. 29, 1941, to Lee and Gertrude (Sorenson) Lorenz. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1959. He worked at Spencer Pac and owned Wheeler Mfg. before moving to the home farm northeast of Spencer.

Bettie McKenzie, 97, of Spencer, formerly of Sioux Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Hansen passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at the Sanford Sheldon Health Care Center in Sheldon.

A celebration of life for Harold “Hap” Edward Thorne will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Everly. The family will be present for a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with military graveside rites presented by the Everett P. Boyles Jr., Post 414 of The American Legion.

Patricia "Pat" Hermstad, 71, of Sioux Rapids, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at her residence in Sioux Rapids.
