The weather here in Haiti has been so cool with overcast skies. Today was warm, sunny, breezy and beautiful.
The women from the team led a "Women's Conference" in the Worship Center for a group of women from the area. We had shared some songs, some stories on women of the Bible, had some creative time with paint markers and bandanas, had a snack of cookies and drink. The women were so appreciative to have the chance to share their faith with our group. We were able to give each of the women a small sewing kit containing some basic sewing supplies, pens, painted clothespins and mints. They prayed for us that we would come back again to lead another "conference." We concluded our time together by eating a meal together. We had rice, sauce, plantains and goat, which we saw being butchered early this morning on our prayer walk. All of this food was cooked and prepared in the outdoor kitchen where the Nutrition Center meals are prepared. Sharing all of this time with the Haitian women was wonderful.
We moved right into another Vacation Bible School event with 75 children that came from two different villages. It was evident that these children were suffering from more malnutrition, etc. than the children we had been with before.
The men worked on a house that they had spent some time on earlier this week. Many things are being accomplished, best of which are the friendships that are being formed.
Supper is on the table. I wonder if we are having rice and beans.
Good night from Haiti,
