Take a 'Bob Rose Walk'

Monday, August 17, 2020

This morning I was fortunate to rise early enough before the heat of the day and take an extended walk around "our fair city." As I was taking it, I was reminded of our very own "Mr. Spencer," Bob Rose and how if you are paying attention when driving around town, you'll see Bob on his "daily journey" around town. I'm sure there are many of my fellow citizens who enjoy our many fine walking trails. But I can just imagine the many stories Bob has in his head about each area of the town he has called home for so many years. And that's why I'd like to think, that during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, maybe it's now our turn to take a "Bob Rose Walk" and get out and really enjoy our neighborhoods and all they have to offer us. Maybe you'll see a house you've gone by many times in a new light. Or possibly you'll discover a new neighborhood you didn't know was found in your town. I'm sure the same can be said for wherever you call home. We all know that "home is where the heart is" and during this time when you are advised to stay home and keep good social distance, let your daily walk be one good way to enjoy and appreciate the place "you've been planted." Be like Bob and count your many blessings as you count your steps around town and think about ways you can make this place feel a bit more like home to your brother and sister as we all endeavor to achieve our "pursuit of happiness." I'm sure Bob would tell you "you're doing great. Now go take a walk."
