SMU issues drinking water advisory for parts of northeast Spencer
Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Spencer Municipal Utilities has issued a drinking water advisory for a few neighborhoods affected by a water main break. Spencer Municipal Utilities Marketing and Community Relations Manager Amanda Gloyd said repairs have been completed and all affected property owners have been notified at this time.
“It’s on East 16th Street, Elmwood Drive, East 17th, East 18th and Ninth Avenue East, it’s kind of in the northeast part of Spencer,” Gloyd said. “Now those customers are in a drinking water advisory, that generally takes about 48 hours, until the testing comes back complete. We’re recommending to boil the water before using it for drinking or to use an alternative, if customers have any questions they can contact our service center at 580-5800. We’ll notify those customers when it’s canceled.”
