GOP not so grand anymore

Sunday, February 2, 2020

Governor Reynolds announced she will push for a 1 cent increase in the sales tax. While water quality and mental health care are viable issues, using the revenue to lower income taxes is not. Most working Americans spend the majority, if not all, of their paycheck on taxable goods and services. The wealthy top 10% spend only a small fraction of their income where the sales tax applies and if GOP directed income tax cuts follow their previous pattern, the biggest cuts will apply to the highest income brackets. Grand itís not!

On the national scene, the U.S. Senate is holding a sham impeachment trial with the outcome already promised by Senator McConnell. GOP senatorís voices publicly admit Trumpís actions were improper ó but heís our man so itís OK. They say, we donít need to hear firsthand witness testimony because we already know what he did, but we just donít care. This was the party of Lincoln, but itís not the Grand Old Party!
