Most of us recall, and perhaps live by the old axiom: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" In other words, that which has worked for many years, and not been the source of compelling controversy, need not be changed, discarded or done a different way.
At the state Capitol, in Des Moines, three flags have graced the edifice and still do today. They would be the flag of the United States of America, the flag of the state of Iowa, and the flag honoring this country's prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW/MIA). To the Iowa legislators on either side of the issue of whether or not to allow the flag of other "causes" to fly over the Capitol, I say "Leave it alone!"
