Rebels return to win column
RUTHVEN — After a one game hiatus from the win column, Sioux Central’s boys pushed their season record to 9-1 with a 57-48 Twin Lakes Conference road win over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Monday night.
“We got off to a slow start,” Sioux Central boys basketball coach Stephen Tjaden said of his team which trailed 16-9 at the end of the first. “Lots of credit to GT/RA. We recovered nicely, got some good defensive stops that led to some transition buckets. I really liked our aggressiveness on offense. We got them in foul trouble early, and that had a big effect on the game.”
The Rebels dominated the second quarter 18-6 to lead 27-22 at the break, but GT/RA didn’t go away, closing the gap by two to trail 37-34 going into the fourth.
Sioux Central owned the free-throw line in the final stanza for the 57-48 win.
Hutner Decker continued to pace the Rebels, scoring 26 points. Ben Hargens scored 12 while Prestan Samson dropped in eight points to go with 12 rebounds.
Sioux Central’s season continues Friday night at home against Southeast Valley.
