Rebels drop a pair
ROCKWELL CITY — Twin Lakes Conference triangular action was unkind to the Sioux Central Rebels Tuesday night as they were toppled in straight sets by South Central Calhoun and Newell-Fonda.
“Overall it was a rough night for us,” Sioux Central volleyball coach Sara Grossnickle said. “We dug ourselves huge holes at the beginning of every set, causing struggles right away. Our serve receive did well in both matches. We were able to get that ball up to our setter, giving us a chance to set up our offense, but it is hard to be competitive with any team when we have more hitting errors than we have kills. We need to focus on being able to get that ball down against scrappy teams.”
SCC got their win against the Rebels by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-10. Sioux Central had nine kills and six kill errors.
The Mustangs posted a 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 win that saw the Rebels finish with nine kills and 13 kill errors.
Sioux Central is now 2-6 overall this season and 1-6 in league play. Conference action will continue Thursday in Ruthven against Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayshire.
