AOG’s Backyard, Bach and Blues location announced

Tickets are on sale for Arts on Grand’s annual fundraiser, Backyard, Bach and Blues. The event features a dinner and social hour, followed by an evening of live entertainment. This year’s event will be hosted by Paul and Jeanne-Marie Hardy, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at 1304 W. 11th St.

“This event is a really big one,” AOG Director Ryan Odor said. “Backyard, Bach and Blues is our biggest fundraiser. It’s my first one as the director. ... I attended one four or five years ago. That’s when I first started to get to know Arts on Grand, eventually coming on the board and then eventually getting where I’m at. Backyard, Bach and Blues means a lot to me as far as what Arts on Grand has to offer, and attracting people to this organization.”

The director shared his excitement for the night’s live entertainment.

“(The featured band is) Rock A La Carte,” Odor said. “Rock A La Carte is actually known as a Queen tribute band, but they will be playing a variety of music from the ‘50s to today.”

The menu for the event is currently undecided.

Odor said the community aspect of the event ties into the entire activity, being conducted in a local backyard. Each year, the event has a new host and locale.

“It kind of allows us to showcase the community,” Odor said. “To see some backyards that they wouldn’t normally see. Sometimes you get amazed. There have been times where, all of the sudden you get back to this backyard and you had no idea all of this stuff was back there.”

Tickets for Backyard, Bach and Blues are $40 for AOG members and $50 for nonmembers. Tickets can be purchased at Arts on Grand or from any of AOG’s board members. For more information, call 262-4307.
