Betty Jean Mincer, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, went to be with her beloved husband, Bob, on Friday, July 6, 2018. Betty was born near Ruthven, Iowa, on June 29, 1934, to Cloyd and Ethyl Beddow Umbrell. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1952. After high school, Betty attended Northwest Institute of Medical Technology, graduating in 1953.
Betty married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Mincer in 1954. Betty followed Bob to Texas where he served in the Army. They started their family there with a son, Tim, followed by Mike, Pat and Pam, born on their return to Iowa. Bob and Betty were married for 62 years, spending considerable time in Huron, South Dakota, Spencer and Sioux Falls. Betty loved caring for her children and grandchildren, cooking and making her house a home. Your family will miss the roast beef dinners, gravy like no-other, apple pie and sour milk pancakes. Our hope is that we can carry-on your focus on your family, caring for others and religion. We love you mom.
Betty was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Yvonne Mincer (Tim); and Bob in 2017.
Betty is survived by three sons: Tim Mincer of Fort Lupton, Colorado, Mike (Val) Mincer of Mandan, North Dakota, and Pat (Sydney) Mincer of Lakewood, Colorado; a daughter, Pam Tiggelaar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and a beloved sister, Sharon Arndt, of Spencer. Betty has seven grandchildren: Stacey (Troy) Ahmann of Bismark, North Dakota, Wes (Joy) Mincer of Minot, North Dakota, Ben (Murphy) Tiggelaar of Austin, Texas, Derek Tiggelaar of New York City, Lisa Tiggelaar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Noah Mincer and Ian Mincer — both of Lakewood, Colorado. Betty also has three great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Betty’s life and her reunion with Bob.
