Letter to the Editor

Bible Reading Marathon

Sunday, June 17, 2018

Praise God that this year will be our third year declaring God’s word at the Clay County Courthouse! This, of course, will not make it to its third year without your help! We, as a state, are embarking again, continuing the history that we have started in our county while we approach the celebration of our Independence! The Bible Reading Marathon starts on June 30 and ends on July 3. To ensure the event goes smoothly and in order, we have provided you a list of responsibilities.

A reader’s responsibilities are as follows:

—Arrive 15-30 minutes before your shift to sign in.

—Mentally prepare yourself to read the word.

—Pray for those reading ahead and behind you.

—Sign your name next to the verse where you begin reading and the verse where you finish.

If you have the time and desire to become a team captain, please don’t hesitate to sign up! A team captain is responsible for a two-hour shift and those reading during that time.

A team captain’s responsibilities are as follows:

—Participate in reading a 15-minute segment.

—Fill the two-hour shift where you are in charge.

—Help readers to sign in, line up and get ready to read, and keep the flow going.

—Step in and read if a participant does not show up or there is a last minute cancellation.

Another reason to get excited to read the word of God is your freedom to be creative with your reading! For example, if you have small children who cannot yet read, you can also read with them or let your children repeat a few words after you. If there are still slots available, you may also sign up for multiple 15-minute readings. You can sign-up at www.tinyurl.com/CCBibleMarathon. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at ccbiblemarathon@gmail.com.

We view your personal details as strictly confidential and will not make any information we have about you available to any third party. Also, we would like to be able to stay in contact with you for future events like this. At any time, you may instruct us to cease contact with you on any topic, and we will respect your request.

Help spread the word, and let’s watch these segments fill up! Please do share and encourage your friends and families to sign up! We are expecting great things to happen as God’s word is read and proclaimed publicly on the courthouse steps!

God bless you and the work you’re doing to help advance the kingdom of God!
