Tigers 4th at Dennis Price Invite

Following a 7-2 victory over Cherokee Friday night that came up just three combined points short of a perfect 9-0 sweep, Spencerís girls moved to 3-3 overall and in the Lakes Conference ahead of their annual home tournament Saturday.

The Tigers finished fourth out of six teams at the freshly renamed Dennis Price Invitational, winning a total of 94 games across the four divisions of No. 1 and No. 2 singles as well as No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji took home the title with 122 games won, getting victories in both doubles brackets from Cassie Barba and Ashley Thorn and the tandem of Izzy Backhaus and Marta Garcyu.

Spencerís No. 2 duo of Madison Carpenter and Morgan Fitzgerald did the most work for the Tigers, placing second in their bracket with four match wins and 28 game victories.

The pairing of Emily English and Gabby Kardell placed third in No. 1 doubles with 25 games and three matches in their win column.

Autumn Rausch placed fifth as a No. 1 singles player for the Tigers, winning a match and 15 games.

Hannah Irmiter added 26 game wins while winning three matches as a No. 2 singles player, placing third in her bracket.

Spencer gets right back into action Monday playing Cherokee once again at home with their eyes set on climbing back above .500 on the season.
