ESTHERVILLE — The Iowa Lakes women’s basketball team handled Little Priest Tribal College 65-49 Wednesday night on the strength of four Lakers finishing in double figures.
The Lakers were led by Mia Wassink with 19 points, Marissa Ruiz with 17 points, Lemia Ntor-Ue with 12 points and Calynn Jackson with 10 points.
“A good team win today,” Laker women’s basketball coach Ashley Martin said. “The girls persevered and played hard until the end. I saw a lot of improvement today. I thought we had better energy in the third quarter, and we showed we can play through the tough times. I thought our defense was really good tonight. I am so happy for our girls. They continue to fight and improve every day. I love coaching this group.”
The Lakers are 8-14 on the season and 2-5 in conference play. The Lakers return home Saturday to host Southwestern at 1 p.m.
