Blizzard conditions close much of Spencer

Tuesday, January 23, 2018
Monday’s storm reduced business and traffic on Grand Avenue in Spencer dramatically as a reported 8 inches of wet, heavy snow — combined with wind gusts reported as high as 50 mph — made travel and visibility difficult beginning in the early hours Monday and continuing late into the evening. The weather forced many delays and closure of services throughout northwest Iowa. A drive through downtown during the afternoon hours found most downtown doors closed and lights off as well as many other businesses and restaurants. (Photos by Randy M. Cauthron)
