Busy morning for area responders, law enforcement

Friday, January 19, 2018 ~ Updated 2:21 PM

An accident Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. at Spencer's North Y -- the north junction of U.S. Highways 18 and 71 -- between a semi-tanker and a Dodge Durango may have resulted in injuries as emergency crews managed the scene which blocked southbound traffic at the intersection. A short time later, at approximately 10 a.m., Spencer Fire and Rescue along with Spencer Police, responded to the call of a fire at Pizza Ranch on Grand Avenue. Unofficial cause of the fire was a broaster in the kitchen. Crews ventilated the building after the fire was extinguished. Additional information on both incidents will be forthcoming from local emergency agencies. (Photos by Randy M. Cauthron)

  • Please don't bother any law enforcement with any requests for information of any kind. They will eventually get around to telling the public what they want us to know. The café, bar and barber shop always have the real news anyway.

  • You're not going to to interrupt them while they are on-site tending to business. They are always more than helpful with information after the issue has been resolved and the scene has been cleared. Bothering them at the scene while they are working is extremely poor journalist etiquette. Once they're done, they will share what the know. - Randy

  • I just can't understand how so many accidents happen at 71 & 18. There's absolutely clear view from any angle....if you look out the windshield.
