Hinton clips CC-E girls in OT
EVERLY — Clay Central-Everly’s girls went to overtime with Hinton Friday night tied at 46, but the Blackhawks took care of business 11-5 in the extra frame to secure the War Eagle Conference win 57-51.
Hinton raced out to a 14-8 lead by the end of the first, but the Mavs answered back with 20 points in the second quarter to lead 28-25 at the break.
Both teams stayed neck-and-neck in the third as the Blackhawks trimmed a point off the lead for a 40-38 scoreboard going into the fourth.
Neither offense could get it going in an 8-6 fourth period that left the game unresolved at 46.
The loss drops CC-E to 2-7 overall this season and 1-5 in conference play. They’ll host Ellsworth out of Minnesota in Everly Monday night for non-conference action.
