Sunday, January 7, 2018

EVERLY — The third quarter was all Mavericks Friday night as Clay Central-Everly outscored Hinton 18-7 over the eight minutes, but the Blackhawks poured in 22 points in the fourth to hold on for a 59-50 win.

CC-E fell behind 16-9 after the first eight minutes and 30-18 by the break.

The strong effort out of the locker room tightened the game back up to just a 37-36 lead for the visitors, but Hinton stayed steady at the free-throw line in the fourth and widened the gap with a 22-14 frame that resulted in the 59-50 final score.

The Mavs fall to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the War Eagle Conference with the defeat. They’ll venture into non-conference play Monday night, hosting Ellsworth out of Minnesota.
