A postcard from Spencer

Monday, January 1, 2018
After a couple of false alarms, the first real winter storm rolled into the area beginning during Thursday’s overnight and continuing most of the day Friday throughout the region. Providing postcard scences ringing in the holiday season from Spencer, temperatures dipped into the negative figures and winds amplified the dangerous wind chills most of last week. The area remained under severe conditions for the better part of the New Year’s weekend. Air temperatures dropped into the minus-23-degree range on New Year’s Eve with a wind chill of around minus 40. Area residents will see a slight increase in temperatures this week, reaching into the 20s at times. (Photos by Randy M. Cauthron)

Merry Christmas and a frozen New Year
