Skogerboe Juried Exhibition to open Nov. 16

OKOBOJI ó The Pearson Lakes Art Center is proud to announce the Wanda J. Skogerboe Juried Exhibition, Nov. 16 through Jan. 27. Founded in 1993, this biannual, juried exhibition is designed to further the art centerís mission by supporting and exhibiting contemporary art from the greater Midwest.

The Best of Show award winner will be awarded a solo exhibition during the 2019 Pearson Lakes Art Center Visual Arts Season, and this award will be announced during the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16.

Open to artists 18-and-older, this exhibition traditionally brings together a diverse group of artists working in a variety of media. This year the Wanda K. Skogerboe Juried Exhibition was judged by Joanne Alberda, Professor of Art (retired) at Dordt College. Alberda is a studio artist as well as a designer and consultant for liturgical textiles. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions in Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan, and in juried shows such as the Quilt Surface Design Symposium and the Annual National Clay, Fiber, Paper, Glass, Metal, Wood Show.

Seventeen artists with 30 works have been selected to participate.

Artists selected for the exhibition include: Cindy Gengler-Smith, Milford; Marisa Sidles, Terril; Cherie Courter, Storm Lake; Julia Kulish, Center Point; Kari Bruinsma, Spirit Lake; Adam Nielsen, Milford; Karen Cooper, Cedar Rapids; Dennis Dykema, Spirit Lake; Daniel Ruf, Spirit Lake; Angie Huffman, Marion; Dale Macafee, Council Bluffs; Mary Mello, Storm Lake; Timothy Arand-McIlrath, Tucson, Arizona; Judy Hemphill, Spencer; Hank Hall, Spirit Lake; and Lissa Potter, Okoboji.
