RUTHVEN Fifty combined points from juniors Dani Boettcher and Shera Smith weren't enough for Sioux Central's girls Monday night as the Rebels were outlasted by Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire 71-65.

Boettcher finished with a 30 point, 10 rebound double-double, and Smith dropped in 20 with the help of an 11-of-13 performance at the free-throw line, but 15 points from the rest of the Rebel roster weren't enough to outpace the Titan offense.

The game was high scoring from the opening tip, and GT/RA grabbed a slim lead by the end of the first at 19-17.

The Rebels slowed in the second while the Titans kept their foot on the gas to open a 37-29 halftime lead.

Sioux Central responded well out of the break, putting up 23 points in the third, but a 20-point quarter by GT/RA kept the home team in front 57-52 going into the final eight minutes.

The Titans clipped the Rebels 14-13 in the fourth to secure the 71-65 triumph.

Sioux Central finished 19-of-40 from the floor with 10 assists and had a good showing at the charity stripe, making 23-of-29 attempts for just under 80 percent.

Sioux Central drops to 3-10 with the defeat and will look to get back on track Friday night at home against a 2-8 Southeast Valley squad.
