Dan Wardell, host of "KIDS Clubhouse" on Iowa Public Television, entertained and engaged students at Johnson Elementary School in Spencer Tuesday.

Dan Wardell, host of Iowa Public Television's "KIDS Clubhouse," entertained a lunchroom of Johnson Elementary students in Spencer Tuesday morning. Wardell, a master at engaging students with his interactive and action-oriented storytelling, encouraged the Spencer children to go home, turn off their TVs and go out and play or read more during their free time.

Wardell is preparing for a new, locally produced "IPTV KIDS Clubhouse," set to air in prime time throughout May.

"I have some overarching themes that I've always included in my story times and my messages: Go outside and play, use your imagination, read a good book and eat healthy food," Wardell said. "These messages will be incorporated in all aspects of the new 'IPTV KIDS Clubhouse' show."

Each episode will consist of segments in the brand new "IPTV KIDS Clubhouse" featuring activities, guests and puppets. Wardell will be joined by co-host Abby Brown, and puppets DanBot and Caveman, as they visit communities across the state, making Iowa's children the stars of the show.

A special 30-minute preview frames the important educational and developmental mission of "IPTV KIDS Clubhouse" for parents, grandparents and caregivers. Viewers will also have the opportunity to get to know the many characters and concepts related to this new program through clips and highlights. "IPTV KIDS Clubhouse: Parent Preview" will premiere at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 1 on IPTV Learns and at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 on IPTV's primary channel. This program will air again several times the rest of the month.

Wardell, aims to engage children, partner with parents, and enrich on-air children's programming, and supply schools and libraries with educational resources.

Dedicated to fun, adventure and learning, the new series will premiere on statewide IPTV at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. June 3, and at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 4. New episodes will premiere each week in these same time slots throughout the summer.
