Letter to the Editor

To the editor

Friday, February 28, 2014

I have noticed that in your newspaper that you allow for comments following any letter or article. This public podium has given many people the opportunity to give their feedback on any given issue without any personal responsibility. People are allowed to hide behind usernames that obscure their identity. Some writers have used this to become nothing more than cyber-bullies, attacking those who have been willing to stand up and give voice to community issues.

It is difficult for most of us to write a letter to the editor to be seen by all. If one feels the need to wear a hood over one's face in order to respond in our free speech society, then maybe that person should reconsider speaking.
