Lady Mavs fall to Alta-Aurelia, 6-2
Clay Central-Everly is still looking for its first win of the season after falling to Alta-Aurelia on Thursday night, 6-2, in Royal. The Lady Mavericks gave up three runs in the top of the second inning and trailed 5-1 after three innings as Alta-Aurelia (9-3) collected nine hits and stole five bases in the win.
CC-E (0-5) totaled eight hits in the game but could only get across one run in the second and one more in the fourth. Sophomore Caitlin Haroldson scored both runs and went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases. Blair Montgomery was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Stevie Scott also had an RBI-single.
Mattie Larson took the loss after pitching all seven innings, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Josie McCarty, Emily Jobst and Kristin Treirweiler also picked up singles in the loss. Alta-Aurelia's Jenna Synder was the winning pitcher with a complete game, giving up eight hits, two earned runs, one walk and striking out four.
CC-E will play North Union in a varsity double header on Monday, June 10 in Swea City.
