Chelsey Woods, 19, Spencer: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
At 7:38 a.m. Jan. 18, Katie Marie Paulus, 28 of Spencer, reported the 2002 Chevy Silverado K2500 she was driving was involved in an accident near the intersection of 200th Avenue and U.S. Highway 18.
Paulus said she was westbound on Highway 18 driving over an ice patch on the road and lost control of her vehicle while trying to pass an Iowa Department of Transportation plow. After losing control, the Silverado struck the rear of the plow, and ended up in the south ditch of the highway.
The plow, driven by Matthew Loerts, 30 of Milford, sustained minor damage totaling $100; and Paulus' Silverado received $1,500 in estimated damages.
At 6:53 a.m. Jan. 28, James Lau, 34 of Spencer, was northbound in the 3300 mile of 165th Avenue in a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup, and attempted to slow for a stop sign. The vehicle was traveling too fast for the icy road conditions, according to the Clay County Sheriff's report. The vehicle lost control, spinning 90 degrees to the north, and entered the north ditch at the T-intersection with 330th Street. The vehicle rolled approximately 180 degrees and came to rest on its driver's side facing west.
Lau was transported to the Spencer Hospital by the Spencer Ambulance for possible injuries.
Clay County Sheriff's Department was also assisted by Everly Fire and Rescue.
