In perhaps the most dominant performance of the season, the Sioux Central girls throttled St. Mary's Tuesday night in Sioux Rapids and led 48-0 at halftime. Four Rebels scored in double figures and Sioux Central made 23 steals in the 60-10 win. St. Mary's leading scorer, Jasmine Demers, was unable to play due to injury.
Senior Hallie Ehlers led with 15 points and seven steals, while Bailey McGuire added 11 points, six assists and five steals. Nicole Hamilton and Taylor Fahnlander each scored 10 points as the Rebels scored 32 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Rebels are now 11-6 and have won two straight. They host South O'Brien tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m.
NO. 4 ST. MARYS BOYS TOO MUCH
Kennedy Drey scored 33 points (16-of-25) and Luke Lenhart poured in 28 as the No. 4 St. Mary's Panthers routed Sioux Central Tuesday night in Sioux Rapids, 78-44. St. Mary's improves to 17-1 on the season and led 51-22 at halftime.
Austin Glawe led with 19 points and seven rebounds for the Rebels, who fall to 4-13 on the season. Tim Saunders scored seven points with four rebounds.
"Hats off to St. Mary's, they showed why they are one of the top teams in the state," coach Stephen Tjaden said.
St. Mary's defeated Sioux Central 69-20 in its first meeting. The Rebels host South O'Brien (12-6) tonight (Thursday). South O'Brien beat Sioux Central 58-45 on Jan. 21.
