The Spencer Chamber of Commerce will once again offer the Leadership Spencer class for 2013, beginning March 4.
Leadership Spencer is a 10-week course beginning Monday, March 4 and continues each Monday through May 6. Classes are held from 3-5 p.m. at various locations throughout the city. Each class highlights a different aspect of community service.
Subjects for 2013 include: The Planting Season, Tourism, Health and Wellness, Education, Economic Development, City Utilities, Public Safety and much more.
This Spencer experience is ideal for new employees that seek a better understanding of the inner workings of the Spencer community as well as for anyone wishing to have better knowledge of the services available to our residents.
A class or individual project is also a popular piece of the course, which in the past has included attending city functions, volunteering at a community agency or working as a group on ways to improve the quality of life we all enjoy in Spencer.
In addition to learning more about the community, class participants will get to meet one on one with many community leaders and business owners and take tours behind the scenes of many of the businesses and organizations we explore.
This course is designed to allow participants maximum information in a minimal amount of time with time set aside at each session for questions and answers.
Fee for the 10-week course is just $180 with class size limited to 20.
Included in the fee is all class materials and any required transportation.
To register or for more information call the Chamber office at 262-5680.
Class topics along with a downloadable registration form are available at the chamber website: www.spenceriowachamber.org.
