Slow first half dooms Rebel boys

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

The Sioux Central boys started slow Friday night and it led to a 58-43 loss on the road to South Central Calhoun in Rockwell City. The Rebels trailed 35-18 at halftime.

"We needed more energy at the start (Friday), which wasn't helped by some outside shots just not falling," Sioux Central coach Stephen Tjaden said. "Our second half showed much more life. We need to pick up our intensity in these next two very important weeks."

Sioux Central will play three games in each of the next two weeks, starting Monday night at South O'Brien. Tuesday night is at Alta-Aurelia before hosting East Sac County on Friday in Sioux Rapids.

Austin Glawe again led the Rebels in the stat sheet, scoring 18 points (8-of-14 FG) with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Dallas Heuton added nine points on 4-of-5 field-goal shooting. Sioux Central was 0-10 from beyond the arc.

South Central Calhoun (8-7) was led by Nathan Christensen's 25 points. Ryan Daisy scored nine with 12 rebounds (eight offensive). The Rebels drop to 4-9 overall this year.
