Lady Tigers shut down Sheldon
Spencer bounces back with 49-26 win
One night after scoring a season-low 32 points, Spencer's girls team bounced back with a suffocating defensive performance and improved offensive production in a 49-26 win over Sheldon at home Tuesday night.
The Lady Tigers held the Orabs to 8-for-36 shooting from the floor (22 percent), including 0-of-10 from 3-point range. Sheldon even struggled at the line, converting only 11-of-32 attempts.
"What a difference a day makes," Spencer coach Don Martindale said. "Maybe we were better off tonight because of last night's game. We were much more energized and our ball movement was much better."
Spencer completely controlled the first half, leading 30-12 at the break. Another strong defensive effort in the third quarter resulted in just four more points for the Orabs as Spencer led 39-16. Sheldon committed 25 turnovers in the game.
"Defensively, we feel like we've got it going pretty good, we just need to continue to improve offensively," Martindale added.
Kirstin Martindale led Spencer with 12 points, Heather Williamson added 11 and Kari Kramer scored nine. Sheldon was led by Krista Bousema's six points.
Spencer will face Spirit Lake at home Friday night in a Lakes Conference game starting at 6:15 p.m.
