CC-E led the entire game until the Chargers were able to take a 39-38 advantage with 2:40 remaining in the game. After two Laurens free throws made it a three-point game, Emily Jobst went coast-to-coast to bring it within one. Two more free throws pushed the lead back to three before Blair Montgomery's lay-up with 25 seconds left made it 43-42 Laurens.
The Mavericks would force a turnover on the next possession, which led to Busch's game-winning shot. Laurens-Marathon (2-9) was whistled for traveling on the ensuing inbounds, ending the game.
Jobst led with 16 points, Montgomery added 12 and Busch scored nine. Montgomery also grabbed nine rebounds. CC-E will host West Bend-Mallard, who beat them 39-30 on Nov. 30, Friday night in Everly. The 30 points scored against WBM is a season-low for the Lady Mavericks.
