Saturday, January 5, 2013

The Clay Central-Everly girls improved to 7-2 on the season with a 62-47 win over GTRA Friday night in Everly. Blair Montgomery led the Mavericks with 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Emily Jobst and Heather Busch each added 12 points in the win.

After starting out 3-1, the Titans have now lost six in a row and fall to 3-7 on the season.

CC-E BOYS FALL AGAIN

The GTRA boys handed CC-E its seventh straight loss of the season Friday night, 62-23. The Titans jumped out to a 20-4 lead after the first quarter and were up 41-13 at half. Chazz Brown led the Mavs in scoring again with 16 points.

"It was a big struggle again tonight," CC-E boys coach Doug Van Der Wilt said. "We've got to take care of the ball and get tougher."

Connor Sturgill led all scorers with 22 points and Austin Dyer added 19 for the Titans, who improve to 3-6 on the year.

The CCE girls are really playing like a team. They work the ball into Blair underneath and all of them worked hard. It was fun to watch. Go Mavericks.
