The Spencer Police Department reminds operators of ATVs and skid loaders used for the purpose of snow removal that all vehicles must have proper lighting per city ordinance. ATVs must be operated by a licensed driver, have a rotating yellow light that is visible from all directions, and must be equipped with either a snow blade or blower unit. The ATV must also have liability insurance coverage. Skid loaders must also have lights, SMV emblems on them, and liability insurance if operated on city streets. Operators must also be licensed. Several complaints were received by the police department with regards to ATV and skid loaders not operating in compliance with the city ordinance.
