Wolves crush Mavs, 62-14

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Third-ranked (Class 1A) Harris-Lake Park needed a few minutes to get on track before blowing past Clay Central-Everly for a 62-14 victory Tuesday night in Cornbelt Conference play.

"We did get off to a sluggish start (Tuesday)," Harris-Lake Park coach Jeff Sohn said. "It was 4-0 three minutes into the game, but we came out of it and that second quarter was a nice one for us when we outscored them 22-2. It was a good run."

The Wolves, who lost their first game of the season at Spirit Lake, 46-45, improved to 8-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference play with the victory.

CC-E falls to 0-7 and scored a season-low 14 points. The Mavericks are averaging 20.7 points per game this season.

H-LP used a 12-0 surge to end the first quarter ahead before stringing together a 34-2 scoring run entering the halftime break.

The second half score was 28-8 H-LP with the continuous clock running.

Eli Ihnen led H-LP with 19 points, five rebounds and four steals. Colin Brons chipped in with 11 points, five boards, four steals and three assists.
