Too many mistakes cost the Spencer girls Friday night as they turned the ball over 30 times in a 39-35 loss at Le Mars. Spencer couldn't get its offense going as they had only 20 points after three quarters.

"All of our turnovers negated all the shot attempts we could have had," Spencer coach Don Martindale said. "It was good to hold a team like that with their athletes to 39 points. Our effort was fine; it was our execution."

Le Mars led 19-13 at halftime and increased the lead to 30-20 after three. Spencer made a rally in the closing minutes but ran out of time. The Lady Tigers closed the gap to 33-27 with three minutes remaining but two more turnovers hurt their chances of completing the comeback.

Taylor Anderson led the Tigers with nine points, Kirstin Martindale added eight, while Alexa Allen hit two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with six points.

Le Mars was led by Molly Renken's 13 points and got eight from Carolyn Ahlers as the Bulldogs are now 2-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Lakes.

Spencer falls to 5-3 and 2-2 in the Lakes Conference. They will host Storm Lake Friday, Dec. 21 at Spencer Fieldhouse.
