The Rebels fell to 1-3 on the season after a 61-39 loss to Manson-NW Webster Friday night in Manson. Brody Eischied scored a game-high 21 points for Manson as the Cougars jumped out with run in the first quarter, and another to start the third, which was too much to overcome for Sioux Central.
"We allowed Manson to have a couple runs in the beginning of the first and third quarters and it proved to be too much for us to get out of," head coach Stephen Tjaden said. "Manson is a very athletic and deep team and we can't afford to allow runs of that nature and expect to compete."
Austin Glawe scored 12 points with 12 rebounds, while Chris Ripke scored a season-high 12 points with two 3-pointers. Tim Saunders scored six with nine boards.
"We showed some real signs of improvement and it was nice to see more of our offensive players showing aggressiveness. Our younger guys are starting to become more accustomed to the speed and physical play of the varsity level," Tjaden said.
Clay Central-Everly lost to South O'Brien Saturday evening, 73-21, to fall to 0-4 on the season. The Wolverines started quickly with a 12-0 run and led 37-13 at half. South O'Brien outscored CC-E 27-3 in the third quarter to blow open the game. Bret Puhrmann scored 22 points in the win.
