Fourth Avenue West open again

Thursday, December 6, 2012

(Photo)
While some red cones and blockades remain along the side of the road, Fourth Avenue West reopened this week after several weeks of closure between West Seventh Street and West Fourth Street. The road is well traveled between the Clay County Administration Building and the Clay County Fairgrounds. A new curb and gutter will better serve the area residents and local foot traffic of persons of all abilities. The closure of the busy stretch re-routed a great deal of traffic on a daily basis.

Bike lane???

The new road is a piece of crap. What a waste of $$$

It's only going to be a couple blocks long...why add a bike lane when it doesn't connect to other bike lanes? And why is it a "piece of crap" would you prefer gravel? Get a clue. The only reason it is replaced is due to sewer updates required by the federal government. It improved the sewer system which is not a waste of money in my opinion. dang people would gripe about the sunshine on here if it was published in an article.

I think it does connect the bike path for about a block.

It does not look very good from the picture. Maybe they drove a steel tracked excavater as they did on east 9th st behind Walgreens on Friday. It leaves some nice big groves in the road... but when your the one who gets paid to redo the road why not?

I drove down the road yesterday and am questioning why it is a "piece of crap". Seemed just fine to me and I was in my old rough riding truck.

I have also drove on this new section of the road and have no complaints.
