Janssen to manage Clay, O'Brien court offices

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

As was reported in Friday's Daily Reporter, district judges of the 3A judicial election sub-district designated Clay County Clerk of Court Laurie Janssen to take on the responsibilities of the O'Brien County Clerk of Court Office when Jeff Roos retires in March 2013.

She will not be leaving her Clay County responsibilities behind, but will continue to oversee both offices.

"I do anticipate spending some of my time here and some of my time there," Janssen said.

Roos' full-time position will not be replaced, as part of a cost savings measure at the state judicial level. Janssen will be compensated for her increased responsibilities, but the state will save a portion of the salary as well as the benefits package.

"There will be a lot of savings," Janssen said. "It's a nice county, a nice town and a good group of people."

She continued, "Eventually, within the next year or so, we're hoping to have an electronic data management system involved so we just hook up through the computer."

Janssen started in her current position as Clay County Clerk of Court in 2009 and began working in the Clay County Clerk of Court's office in July 1988.
