Spencer Dream Center

The Spencer Dream Center will host its annual "Toy Giveaway" as part of its continued "Season of Giving." Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be on-site to visit with the children, get their Christmas requests and take pictures. Children accompanied by a parent or guardian will be able to choose a toy and guests will be treated to free coffee or hot chocolate.

Arts on Grand

Grand Meander and Christmas in the Gallery at Arts on Grand will be open from 6-8 p.m. Preview "Christmas in the Gallery" holiday invitational exhibit, which runs through Jan. 5, 2013. Alli Stevick will perform Christmas music on her harp, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the gallery.

Clay County Heritage Center

The Parker Historical Society of Clay County will be offering children's quilt activities from 6-8 p.m. The Sioux Achievers 4-H Club members will be set up in the Robert Keir Meeting Room inside the Clay County Heritage Center. Come in from the cold and look through the Vintage Quilt Show while the kids have fun paper piecing a quilt design of their choice.

Medlar Arts and Crafts Studio

Face painting by Misty Harrison will take place from approximately 6-8 p.m. for kids at the studio on West Fourth Street.

It was pretty quiet and didn't seem like many people were out this year, despite the warmer weather. Certainly not as busy as I remember past years. You can see that Grand Ave is dying a slow death.
