Funeral services for Mr. Darrel Scharnberg, 87, of Spencer, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday with the family present from 4-6 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Mr. Scharnberg passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Milford Care Center in Milford.

Darrel Duane Scharnberg, the son of Louis and Ingrid (Jensen) Scharnberg, was born Aug. 19, 1925 in Everly, Iowa. His childhood was spent in Everly, where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School.

Darrel married Marjorie Jean Thorne on Feb. 2, 1947, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to farm and feed cattle in the Everly area until 1988, when they moved to Spencer. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and was a past member of the Lion's Club in Spencer as well as the YMCA.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie; his children: Kenneth Scharnberg and his wife, Nancy of Spencer; Darlene Kelso and her husband, Jerry, of Yuma, Ariz.; Paul Scharnberg of Spencer; and Larry Scharnberg of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lenore (Lee) Henrich of Hot Springs, Ark.; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
