Prenzlow hired as new Spencer Y CEO
The Spencer Family YMCA Board of Directors approved the hiring of Nathan Prenzlow as chief executive officer, filling the vacancy which will be created when long-time executive director Becky LaBarre retires in early December. Prenzlow will be on the job after the first of the year.
"My family and I are very excited for this new opportunity to work with the Spencer Family YMCA and the Spencer community," Prenzlow said. "I look forward to continuing the success that this organization has brought to the Spencer area."
Prenzlow currently serves as executive director for the YMCA branch in Reading, Pa. His responsibilities include management of a $4.4 million budget for a YMCA with 1,800 members, 25 fulltime staff and 83 part-time employees and a variety of programming, which includes fitness, aquatics, childcare and housing. Previously, he was the executive director for the Adamstown YMCA and Mifflin Area YMCA. All three of these Ys are branches of the YMCA of Reading and Berks County Association.
"We had excellent candidates interested in providing leadership of our Spencer YMCA," Kellie Beneke, president of the Spencer Family YMCA Board of Directors, said. "The caliber of candidates attracted to our Y is a huge tribute to our Y and the community of Spencer."
Prenzlow moved from his native Nebraska in 2009 to work with the YMCAs of Reading and Berks County. Just prior to his leadership role at the YMCAs in Pennsylvania, Prenzlow managed an Anytime Fitness in Omaha, Neb. However, his career started at the Blair Family YMCA in Blair, Neb. where he served as director of Operations from May 2002 through August 2008.
Prenzlow and his wife Christy have three children, Campbell, Marley, and Mila.
