Tabetha Wilson, 27, of Spencer, was arrested and charged with second degree theft and forgery, both class D felonies, following a complaint from a private citizen. The arrest occurred at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The citizen claimed two personal checks had been stolen and cashed at Farmers Savings Bank in Fostoria. Wilson was identified by the individual as the person believed to have taken the checks.

After further investigation, the Clay County Sheriff's office determined that Wilson had allegedly taken the checks and forged the victim's name on them, then cashed the checks for a total of $10,000.

Wilson was initially held on a $5,000 bond.
