Chad Lierman will officiate, with burial in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. Condolences may be sent online to www.christensenhuffman.com.

Born Dec. 8, 1935, in Schleswig, Roger Lee Paulsen was the son of Carl Johannes and Irene Dorothy Anna (Abbe) Paulsen. He grew up on the farm south of Arthur, Iowa, and graduated from Arthur High School in 1954.

Roger served in the United States Army from 1956-58. On April 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shirley Huston in Spencer. Roger worked at the ASCS office, and farmed south of Arthur for 27 years. He was employed as an orderly and ambulance driver and later as head of housekeeping at Horn Memorial Hospital for ten years, and owned and operated Roger's Floor Service 15 years before retiring.

Roger loved woodworking and kept busy with numerous projects during his retirement years. He always had something in the making and was a willing and helping hand to his daughters with their projects as well. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. He and Shirley volunteered on various mission trips over the years, offering their services to those in need, and also participated in Compassionate Friends. Roger will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, always putting others before himself. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and was very supportive of their activities. He enjoyed playing cards with the same card group since 1962.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters: Julie (Rod) Marron, of Holstein, and Deanna (Scott) Cranston, of Ida Grove; a son-in-law, Ron (Jenny) Sorensen, of Odebolt; 10 grandchildren: Shelby, Dani, Presley, Ryder, and Brodie Cranston, Brenna (Drew) Stuhrenberg, and Jesse, Hannah, Taylor and Brayden Sorensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Sorensen in 1990; a stillborn sister; and parents-in-law, Millard and Winifred Huston.
