Barbara Grassley will visit northwest Iowa Tuesday, Oct. 30. Grassley is the wife of United States Senator Chuck Grassley.

The public is invited to join Grassley for a lunch hosted by Megan Hess, candidate for the Iowa State House, at 12:30 p.m. at the Spencer Dream Center.

"Having worked for Senator Grassley's office, I realize how hard he and his family work for Iowa," Hess said. "Mrs. Grassley is truly an asset to Iowa. It is an honor to join her in her visit to northwest Iowa.

Grassley's plans include joining the Dickinson County Republican Women for their Coffee and Conversation program at Creative Spirits in Spirit Lake at 9 a.m. Grassley will then travel to Spencer to visit area businesses.

I am disappointed that the Dream Center would choose to have a political event there. Having politicians come and see what the Dream Center is about, yes. A political event such as this, no.

The Dream Center seems like a place that should be for everyone.

It's open to the public, isn't that "everyone"?
