2Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.
Christians know that they can always trust in the Lord and in His Word. 1Kings 8:56...there hath not failed one Word of all His good promise. 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are yea and Amen.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
The Lord is a travel agent. He knows the end from the beginning and He knows where to lead us and how to lead us. He needs sheep to follow Him, Psalms 100 and can lead us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake, Psalms 23:3. The Lord desires that we maintain this attitude: "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled, Matthew 5:6, and that we put Him first, But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you, Matthew 6:33.
We are told that Psalms 118:8 is the middle verse of the Bible: It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. (The natural inclination is to put our trust in man.) Psalms 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Psalms 33:17 A horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord. 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them...
In this world of uncertainty, filled with trouble and turmoil, it is helpful and rewarding to trust in the Lord and to know, based on the promises of His Word, that He is coming soon.
John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Acts 1:11...Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
1 Thes 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Thank God for the hope of the Christian! We have something to look forward to and to get excited about!
1 Cor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Hebrews 9:28...and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Are we looking for Him?
I Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
The Lord encourages us: Therefore be ye also ready...Matthew 24:44, and 25:13...they that were ready went in with Him...
It takes obedient trusting in the Lord and in His Word to be ready. Hebrews 5:9...Jesus became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him.
Jesus expressed concern when He comes, Luke 18:8...when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth? Our answer should be YES! We love Him, we trust Him and we love His Word. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the of Word, Romans 10:17. We know Jesus is coming soon.
