Guadalupe Calixto Nava, 26, of Spencer, was arrested at 6 p.m. Oct. 15, in Sioux Rapids by Buena Vista County Sheriff's office on a Clay County warrant for operating while intoxicated. Nava is also being held on an ICE detainer.

A 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup, driven by Bernard Fairchild, 76, of Spencer, was backing from a parking stall at the Clay County Administration Building and struck an unoccupied vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, at 9:53 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. Fairchild claimed he could not see due to the sun. Damage to both vehicles was minor. Fairchild was at fault according to the Spencer Police Department report.

Marina McNeill, 59, of Algona, was traveling north on Grand Avenue, turning left onto West Park Street in Spencer, at 12:35 p.m. Oct. 10. She accelerated to avoid an oncoming car and wound up wedged on a large landscaping rock at the Clay County Heritage Center on the northeast corner of Grand Avenue and West Park Street. The 2003 Dodge Neon she was driving also ran over some bushes and small trees. Damage to the landscaping was estimated at $250 by Spencer Police. No injuries were reported.
