As the Tigers found out last Friday, records can be misleading, as they lost to the previously 1-4 Carroll Tigers, 28-7. Tomorrow, Spencer faces another team with a losing record, Denison-Schleswig (1-5, 1-2), and it's homecoming.

The Tigers weren't able to do much in Carroll last week after falling behind quickly on a fumble-return touchdown on their second play. Spencer also got a punt blocked in the endzone for another Carroll score and gave up over 100 yards rushing to two Carroll running backs.

Spencer will look to get back on track against a Denison team that's coming off a 24-21 loss to Le Mars. Denison's only win came against Carroll, 29-28, on Sept. 7, three weeks prior to Carroll beating Spencer.

Denison QB Derek Hall completed just 5-of-17 passes but they were all for big yards as he finished with 214 yards and three touchdowns, including an 87-yard TD pass to T.J Pauley and an 85-yard TD pass to Justin Kahl.

Spencer, who gave up 229 yards passing in its loss to Le Mars, will have to avoid the big pass play and get back to what it does best: running the ball. The Tigers finished with a season-low 187 rushing yards against Carroll last week.

The district standings will continue to take shape after Friday's action as only two games will remain. Spencer plays at Algona (non district) and the regular season finale at No. 2 Bishop Heelan.
